KUSAMBA, KLUNGKUNG, BALI, INDONESIA — September 4, 2026 — Kusamba Village in Klungkung, Bali, has officially been launched as a Maritime Village through the Program Penguatan Kapasitas Organisasi Kemahasiswaan (PPK Ormawa), an initiative led by the Himpunan Mahasiswa Ilmu Keperawatan (HMIK), Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.

The launch was held at the Kusamba Village Office on Friday, September 4, 2026, and was officiated by Klungkung Vice Regent Tjokorda Gde Surya Putra. The event marked a new step in efforts to strengthen Kusamba's coastal potential while supporting community empowerment and sustainable village development.

The PPK Ormawa initiative is implemented through GARAM LAUT (Gerakan Masyarakat Berdaya Terpadu), which brings together university students, local communities, the village government, and other stakeholders. The program focuses on developing community capacity and encouraging the sustainable use of Kusamba's coastal resources.

Through a series of community-based activities, the initiative supports local knowledge, practical skills, environmental awareness, and participation in coastal development. The approach is designed to ensure that the development of Kusamba as a Maritime Village is connected to the needs and potential of the local community.

The launch also represents collaboration between higher education and the village community. HMIK FK Unud seeks to contribute through student-led programs while working alongside local stakeholders to strengthen the capacity of the community.

The establishment of Kusamba as a Maritime Village is expected to provide a foundation for continued community participation and sustainable development. The initiative is intended to continue beyond the launch event by encouraging local ownership and supporting the long-term development of Kusamba's coastal potential.
