Sidney, BC — October 19th, 2026 — Peninsula Transmission + Automotive, the Sidney-based full-service automotive repair shop, has officially joined the North Saanich Repair Café as a regular community volunteer. Following a successful debut at the September event, the Peninsula Transmission + Automotive team will return on Saturday, October 24, to provide free on-site automotive help to local drivers.
The North Saanich Repair Café brings together skilled volunteers to help community members fix everyday items — reducing landfill waste and building local connection. Peninsula Transmission + Automotive’s addition expands the event’s reach into automotive help, giving Peninsula drivers free, hands-on access to professional diagnostics and minor repairs.
At the September event, the Peninsula Transmission + Automotive team used their state-of-the-art diagnostic scanner on site, scanning five vehicles and diagnosing check engine and warning light issues. The team also replaced bulbs, addressed concerns ranging from blinker lights to transmission questions, and chatted with attendees about buying and selling vehicles. Over 30 people stopped by the station throughout the day, with the team estimating that attendees collectively saved well over $1,000 in free help and advice.
“The September Repair Café was an incredible day for us,” said Peter Wille Jr., co-owner of Peninsula Transmission + Automotive. “Getting to meet so many people from our community, answer their questions, and actually help them with real automotive concerns — that’s exactly why we got involved. Many of the attendees are already planning to come back and bring their friends and family, which tells us this is something the Peninsula really values.”
For the October 24 event, Peninsula Transmission + Automotive is expanding what they bring to the Repair Café. In addition to their diagnostic scanner and general automotive expertise, the team will be on site with a range of common fluids to top up vehicles, including windshield washer fluid, brake fluid, and common engine oils — a practical, timely offering as drivers prepare their vehicles for the wet winter season.
“We wanted to add something tangible this time,” added Peter Wille Jr. “A lot of drivers don’t realize how simple a fluid top-up can be, or that putting it off can lead to real problems down the road. If we can save someone a trip to the shop and keep their vehicle running better, that’s a win.”
Attendees planning to visit the Peninsula Transmission + Automotive station are encouraged to reach out on the company’s social media channels ahead of time, mention the Repair Café, and share what vehicle they drive and what’s going on with it. This allows the team to bring the right tools and fluids on the day — ensuring attendees get the most out of their visit.
The North Saanich Repair Café takes place on Saturday, October 24, and continues to run as a free community event supported by local volunteers.
Peninsula Transmission + Automotive’s involvement reflects the shop’s broader commitment to the Saanich Peninsula community. Since opening in Sidney earlier this year, the shop has focused on building trust with local drivers through honest diagnostics, transparent pricing, and quality workmanship — values the team sees as a natural fit with the Repair Café’s mission.
