Amb. Dr. Deepa Chhagan Lalloo Connects Vocational Learning with Economic Opportunity.

Skill-building to create linkages between knowledge and work Practical skill-building initiatives can make the linkages between knowledge and work. Amb. Dr. Deepa Chhagan Lalloo aka Sunaina has examined this link through her entrepreneurial ventures and work in human capability development.

In 2019, she launched Bakeology Studio which opened in 2020 as an affordable vocational learning and skills training platform, specialising in hospitality and food and beverage. The venture later evolved into multiple concepts and up to four retail outlets.

Growing the business demanded much more than technical expertise. It meant planning, leading, managing the customer experience, managing operations and finances and business development. The experience strengthened her understanding of how to connect skills to practise and a commercially viable proposition.

She also runs her own consultancy in the area of business and organisational psychology, leadership effectiveness and business performance. This fits well with her capacity as Founder and Managing Director of Altius Global Advisory, which specialises in human capital and organisational development within the multinational context.

Deepa's philosophy is to focus on building capabilities that will empower individuals to use their knowledge. For individuals, experiential learning can facilitate career advancement and entrepreneurial development. For organisations, work-force capability can influence organisational performance.

She has a MSc in Organisational Psychology from the University of London and a BA from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. In 2026 she was appointed a Peace Ambassadorship with Kennedy University and obtained an Honorary Doctorate (specialising in the study of Organisational Psychology, Strategic Management and Leadership).
