Amb. Dr. Deepa Chhagan Lalloo Highlights the Value of Cross-Functional Business Leadership.

How do you manage diverse personalities, namely in a joint world where departments have to work together to reach strategic goals? Amb. Dr Deepa Chhagan Lalloo (Sunaina) has a cross-functional approach to business leadership across human capital strategy, organisational design and operational transformation.

In her capacity as Founder and Managing Director of Altius Global Advisory, she is dedicated to bringing together human capability and organizational performance. Her career path has proven that linking human resource planning, governance, business process and technology is more than just the HR department.

While at Ava Care Health Group Global she held the position of Executive Director Human Resources and Human Capital and was responsible for the drafting and centralization of the group's human capital activities for 18 subsidiaries in 12 African countries, as well as the UAE, India and Kazakhstan. She managed the Payroll, Finance integration, IT roll out, shared services, governance, as well as mergers and acquisitions.

This practical shows how cross-functional leadership can facilitate coordination within complex business environments. Successful collaboration is dependent upon responsibilities being explicit, decisions being led by knowledge and understanding how a purpose outside of one's function.

Her work at BDO spanned organisational development, talent management, leadership development and performance management. She was also an assessor for the Oxford Executive Leadership Programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.

Deepa pursued her MSc in Organisational Psychology from the University of London. Kennedy University awarded her the Peace Ambassadorship in 2026 and an honorary doctorate with specialisations in Organisational Psychology, Strategic Management and Leadership in 2026.
