PHOENIX, ARIZONA - July 30, 2026 - First Solar, Inc. announced its second-quarter 2026 financial results, reporting net sales of $1.06 billion and reaffirming its previously issued full-year 2026 financial guidance.
The company said second-quarter net sales decreased 4% year over year, primarily because of lower revenue associated with customer contract terminations, partially offset by increased module sales to third-party customers. First Solar reported net income of $423 million, or $3.92 per diluted share, compared with $342 million, or $3.18 per diluted share, in the second quarter of 2025.
Adjusted EBITDA reached $644 million, compared with $560 million a year earlier. First Solar ended the quarter with gross and net cash of $1.7 billion and a contracted sales backlog of 45.1 gigawatts as of June 30, 2026.
The company also reported that it surpassed 100 gigawatts of cumulative module sales globally. Its contracted backlog extends through 2030, according to the company.

“We delivered both record second-quarter and first-half sales volume and improved financial performance relative to the prior year,” said Mark Widmar, Chief Executive Officer of First Solar, Inc. “We also surpassed 100 GW of cumulative module sales globally and ended the quarter with approximately 45.1 GW of contracted backlog extending through 2030.”

First Solar maintained its 2026 guidance, including projected net sales of $4.9 billion to $5.2 billion, gross profit of $2.4 billion to $2.6 billion, adjusted EBITDA of $2.6 billion to $2.8 billion, and capital expenditures of $800 million to $1.0 billion.
The company expects global annual nameplate manufacturing capacity to reach approximately 25 gigawatts in 2026. Its manufacturing portfolio includes facilities in the United States, Malaysia, Vietnam and India.

First Solar manufactures photovoltaic modules using cadmium telluride thin-film semiconductor technology. The company says its research and development activities are conducted in California and Ohio, with cumulative R&D investment exceeding $2 billion.
