Amb. Dr. Deepa Chhagan Lalloo Connects Business Sustainability with Responsible Management.

Business sustainability must challenge organisations to take account of the impact of their decisions on performance, efficiency, resources, the environment and the society in the long term. Amb. Dr. Deepa Chhagan Lalloo, also known as Sunaina, brings a multi-disciplinary business degree with a post professional development in sustainability management to this conversation.

Deepa is founder and managing director of Altius Global Advisory where she has a focus on organisational effectiveness, human capability, leadership and business performance. Deepa's perspectives remind us that from a CEO's perspective business decisions are best understood by also paying attention to the broader organisational system-people, resources and processes.

In 2018, she received a professional development certification in Business Sustainability Management from the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. At the same year, she also finished a managerial finance certification and an MBA Essentials certification from the London School of Economics.

These learning opportunities support her passion for people and combined with her expertise in human capital operations, organisational design and business consulting. She established and rolled out the human capital function at Ava Care Health Group Global, building a new and integrated human capital function across 18 subsidiaries across 12 African countries, the UAE, India and Kazakhstan. Her areas of focus include governance, shared services and workforce transformation.

Good governance can include appraising priorities in the operational business, taking into account the impact on the workforce and making sure organisational choices contribute to long-term resilience. Sustainability goals will also be served by well-defined accountability and embedded considerations in the operational planning.

Deepa graduated with a MSc in Organisational Psychology from the University of London and BA from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Her work background is in corporate executive, leadership and entrepreneur development.

In 2026, she received a Peace Ambassadorship from Kennedy University, and an honorary doctorate in Organisational Psychology, Strategic Management and Leadership.
