Amb. Dr. Deepa Chhagan Lalloo Highlights the Strategic Importance of Organisational Design.

For an organisation to be well-designed the purpose and responsibilities are clear and the reporting lines and relationships are conducive to the achievement of the organisation's goals. Amb. Dr. Deepa Chhagan Lalloo (Sunaina), has expertise in organisational design, human capital strategy and business transformation.

"As the Founder and Managing Director of Altius Global Advisory, I work across the organisation of psychology, workforce change, executive leadership and business performance. My work takes into account the way roles and task performance and decision-making structures impact the capacity of people and teams to deliver organisational priorities."

As Executive Director Human Resources and Human Capital at Ava Care Health Group Global, Deepa pioneered and consolidated human capital operational functions for the group's 18 subsidiaries in 12 African countries, as well as in the UAE, India and Kazakhstan.

Her focus areas were organisational design, governance, payroll, financial integration, IT implementation and shared services. These are areas that involve a high level of integration and interaction between the people, systems and business functions, especially in multi site organisations.

Organisational design can support businesses in reviewing if roles and responsibilities are correct, processes for decision making are well defined and operating structures are suitable as a business evolves. The review of organisational design is particularly useful when expanding, restructuring or implementing new ways of working.

Deepa's work at BDO spanned organisational development, talent management and performance management. Her educational background, a MSc in Organisational Psychology from the University of London, gives a solid basis for addressing the impact of organisational structures on human behaviour.

In 2026, Kennedy University awarded her a Peace Ambassadorship and an honorary doctorate in Organisational Psychology, Strategic Management and Leadership.
